Gary Scarpello

Gary lives in the Aidenn Lair section of Upper Dublin with his wife Cathy, daughter Alina, who attends Upper Dublin High School School, our Havanese dog, Sophie and parakeet, Mango. Gary grew up and has lived in this community most of his life. His family moved to North Hills across the street from Queen of Peace School and Church in 1956. His family later moved to Aidenn Lair in 1965. After graduating from Upper Dublin High School, Gary graduated with a BS in Individual and Family Studies with a concentration in adolescent development. He later received a BS in mathematics with computers and a BA in history and teaching certifications from Gwynedd-Mercy College. While teaching computer science, math, and social studies, he furthered his education by receiving a MS in Instructional Technology from Philadelphia University, and a Ph.D. from Drexel University in Educational Leadership Development and Learning Technologies.

Gary, now retired, has taught various underserved student populations for 36 years and has served as school computer network administrator for two schools. He also had his own computer network consultancy. Gary is an author and a national presenter on teaching mathematics. Before joining the Board, Gary was a member of the Educational Advisory Committee, the Sandy Run Middle School Project Review Committee, and member of the 2013 & 2015 Task Force for Realignment of Schools for the Upper Dublin School Board.
